Florida State College is 770 hours in length. The Basic Recruit
Correctional Officer Training Program is 532 hours in length. These
academies must be completed in their entirety before an individual is

The Basic Recruit Law Enforcement/Correctional Officer Programs are
designed as intensive programs of study. The programs focus on training
students to be successful in their studies, to develop strong ethics and
professionalism, and to operate efficiently while under pressure.
Students are expected to develop and demonstrate, by their conduct, the
seriousness of their intentions to pursue a career in the Criminal
Justice profession.
